Personal Invitation

Mus= ic is an important part of the Liturgy of the Mass.

St. Francis of Assisi offers a number of ways parishioners can participate in our Music Ministry. Please feel free to come up after Mass and talk with any of the directo= rs or choir members. We will be happy to answer your questions and help you in any way we can.

&= nbsp;

Hispanic Choir<= o:p>

The Hispanic Choir rehearses on Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and sings at the Saturday 6:30 p.m. Mass. Please join us if you are interested in participating. For more information, contact the head of the Hispanic Ministr= y, Sonia Barroso; or o= ur Assistant Music Director, Ramón Garcia Martos.

Traditional Choir<= o:p>

Thi= s choir normally rehearses on Thursday from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and genera= lly sings at the Sunday 11:00 a.m. Mass. Occasionally this group wi= ll sing at various other Masses and serves at major liturgies (e.g., Holy Days of Obligation, Christmas Eve, Holy Week, etc.)

To accommodate families' vacation schedules, the Traditional Choir takes= a break during the summer, and the Thursday choir practices are suspended during those months.

&nb= sp;

No = formal vocal training is necessary to join the choir and all age groups are invited. For more infor= mation regarding this group, please contact our Music Director, OPEN.

Ensemble Groups=

Sma= ller ensemble groups sing during various Masses. Rehearsals for thes= e groups are generally held prior to their Mass. If you are interested in joining one of these groups, please contact = the office for rehearsal schedules and other relevant information.=

Mass Ti= mes:

Saturday 4:30 p.m.
Sunday 9:00 a.m.
Sunday 11:00 a.m. (during the summer)
Sunday 5:00 p.m. (Youth Mass)

Children

Chi= ldren participate in special and seasonal events. Children, with their parents, are also invited to join the various choirs.

Cantors

Can= tor practice is generally held within the choir/ensemble rehearsals for t= heir particular Mass. The primary function of a cantor is to serve as the Minister of the W= ord for the Psalm and Gospel Acclamation, as well as lead the congregatio= n in song. A cantor should possess a clear, strong voice and be able= to read music.

Instrumentalists

&nb= sp;

We = are constantly in search of instrumentalists to play at various Masses.&n= bsp; It matters not what instrument you play. Please join us if you = are interested in participating in this important area. You will be= a great addition to the Music Ministry.

Combined Groups <= o:p>

&nb= sp;

Thr= oughout the Liturgical Year, the above groups combine their talents and sing/= play together for special occasions and Holy Days.
